Jimmy Lam

I was born and brought up in Indonesia. My family and I moved to Hong Kong when I was a teenager. I have always loved rock music and so I worked part-time as a guitarist in entertainment business in HK besides my regular job in shipping and receiving industry.

My wife and I moved to Toronto in 1997 and I became a Christian three years later. I am self-employed operating a courier business. I think music is a universal language and is an excellent medium to communicate to people across all cultures. Being a member of The Pelicans, I hope that we would be able to reach out to as many communities as possible and share the good news about God’s love and salvation. Also, my long-term goal is to be able to influence local Chinese churches to accept more diversified styles and rhythms of music worship.

As far as serving the Lord, I play drum in the worship team at a Chinese church. I also provide coaching to youth bands for a youth outreach organization in Toronto.

My leisure activities include practicing martial arts - Tae Kwon Do - and spending time with my pet Tango (a cute 20 lb. Pug). Tango is the most loyal supporter of the Pelicans. He attends all our prayer meeting and practices. He loves rock music and his favorite instruments are piano and drum.
